Program Policies

The Colorado Health Foundation Transitional Year Program
Policy for Didactic Conferences

For all rotations geographically near PSLMC - unless there are specific educational reasons not to do so - attending noon conferences and Grand Rounds is mandatory. Interns should routinely plan to leave offices promptly at 11:55 am and be available to reconvene their elective by 1:00 pm.

When there are other educational activities specific to the rotation scheduled, interns are expected to attend them instead and record the date, topic and presenter.

For ALL didactic sessions attended throughout the month (other than IM noon conference and Grand Rounds) interns are expected to record the date, topic and presenter and submit a compilation of these sessions to the Transitional Year Program Director as an attachment to the required rotation evaluation.

The number, type and length of didactic sessions on other rotation (e.g., surgical, anesthesia, radiology, dermatology, pathology) is more variable. These rotations have a core list of topics that will be covered every month as well as additional educational offerings that may be held. Some specialties have their own Grand Rounds either at PSLMC or at other area hospitals that you will be expected to attend. When there are no conferences or sessions offered over the noon hour, interns are expected to attend Internal Medicine noon conferences or Grand Rounds.

Regardless of the service, interns are expected to record the date, topic and presenter and submit a compilation to the Transitional Year Program Director as an attachment to the required rotation evaluation.
